Rose Wilder Lane (Laura and Almanzo’s daughter), during the 1920’s was considered one of the highest paid female American writers. In 1920, Rose went to Paris after having recently divorced Gillette Lane. She accepted a position as a special correspondent for the Red Cross. She reported on American relief efforts in multiple countries.

Along with Herbert Hoover among her friends that Rose wrote about during this time were Sinclair Lewis, Isabel Paterson, Dorothy Thompson, and Lowell Thomas.
